Welcome to my story, which, like all good stories, is very much in progress.
The impetus of this blog is my participation in the Teachers for Global Classrooms program, an experience that has already been influential in my personal and profession life.
Here's how the program works:
- Secondary teachers can apply for this opportunity (go now! apply today!)
- Teachers who are accepted take an 8-week online Global Education course - the course was rigorous, engaging and relevant to my current and future teaching practice
- Teachers meet in Washington, DC, for a Global Education Symposium
- Teachers participate in an International Field Experience for 2 - 3 weeks
Last night, I returned from Washington, DC after 2.5 days of collaboration, learning, and inspiration.
The slideshow below tells part of this weekend's story.
I loved being able to meet the people from across the country with whom I'll be traveling to Colombia from July 15 - August 2, and I loved being able to meet the teachers who are traveling to other countries. I cannot wait to follow the blog when they travel to Morocco (in two weeks!), Ghana (three weeks!), Russia (four!), and the summer groups traveling to the Philippines and India.
And after a whirlwind weekend of travel, intense sessions, dreaming of Colombia, and collaboration, I'm going to love the nap I'm about to take......
